You know, I’m cool with thinspo. You want to be thin? That’s great! Just do it the healthy way. Someone wanting to get thin is no different than someone wanting to get fit. I have no problem with HEALTHY thinspo. However, I do have a problem with Pro-Ana and Pro-Mia blogs. There is a distinction between someone who actually suffers from an eating disorder and they simply vent about it on their blog verses someone who aspires to HAVE an eating disorder or encourages having an eating disorder like it’s some kind of glorious, Praise worthy condition. There is a difference between someone who actually suffers with an eating disorder and is trying to seek help on their blog verses someone who sits there and “teaches” the “ways” of the “anorexic’s” like they’re some kind of ED disciple.
Now, This page says and I quote “We don’t advise eating disorders, but we are here for the ones who have them.” Usually, If I don’t advise something, I’m not going to encourage you by giving you ideas on how to complete a task in which I don’t agree with. That’s like saying “I don’t agree with you murdering children, But here’s how you do it…” Trying to have an open mind, I move on to read their page thinking they’re going to have recovery advice or something… In this mists of reading this fuckery, This person(s) proceeds to ‘educate’ their followers on how to hide having an ED by lying, “Pretending” to eat and puking in the shower. It also suggests for you to watch fat people eat because they’re disgusting, Take laxatives and to only eat 500 calories a day. There’s also apparently some sort of “religion of the Ana’s” you must follow not to mention their disrespectful take on the 10 commandments called “The thin commandments” which include “If you aren’t thin- You aren’t attractive”, “Being thin is more important than being healthy” and “Not eating are signs of true will power and success”.
However, This person does list all the “cons” of ‘being an Ana’ so, I guess that justifies all their oh so wonderful advice… And since they DID say they DON’T advise ED’s, I guess that means because they said it, it’s true. Hmmm, Let me try that…. Hey! I’m Mister Rogers! Oh…. But look… I’m not wearing a sweater…
I also just love the complete contradictory posted upon this page. Not just the obvious “I’m NOT Pro-Ana, But I really am…” bullshit; But also the fact that one of their “cons” of ‘being an Ana’ is “Fatigue and lack of energy” but they then post under their “70 reasons NOT to eat” list “You’ll feel more energetic”.
Ah, Let me list some of my FAVORITE quotes from this page: “You don’t NEED food” (Lol, Do I even have to respond to that one?) “You’ll be able to run faster” (With what energy?) “People who eat are selfish and unrealistic” (Yeah, That child who hasn’t eaten in 46 days in a third world county who FINALLY gets a meal is SO selfish while you’re diddy daddling on your iPod. Also, I’m pretty sure eating IS realistic since it IS what we as humans need to survive. By the way sweetie, If we don’t NEED food, Why are you telling your followers to eat 500 calories a day? Obviously they don’t NEED that.) “If you eat, You’ll look like one of those disgusting, fat trash hookers” (Again, Do I even have to respond?) “Fat people die earlier” (LOL, these just keep getting better and better) “Skinny people get better jobs” ( Wait… There’s more…) “Perfect body=perfect soul”/”you’ll be pure, holy and clean (Haha, I sure hope that’s not the requirement to get into Heaven because we will all surly perish. I’m also pretty sure there’s going to be a feast when we get to Heaven. You’ll hurt Jesus’ feeling if you don’t eat his casserole :c) “You don’t deserve food” (Oh, But Ana’s are so perfect. Don’t they deserve EVERYTHING? You also basically put food in the position of being a prize to be won. Thus, Admitting food is INDEED a good thing.)
